My Family

For release July 1, 2019

Steve is back with a new family music single "My Family", an upbeat swing tune reminiscent of the east coast "Beach Music" he grew up with back in South Carolina.

As the title would suggest the song is about families, but when Steve sings about sisters, brothers, mothers and fathers, he's talking about a common family to which we all belong.   "I think if everyone just treated others as if we were all part of a greater family", Steve says, "the world would be much better for it.   We're all supposed to be looking out for each other."

Steve has already made his mark on the national music scene with 6 critically acclaimed CDs, multiple #1 hits, and a first-place award in the USA Songwriting Competition children's music category.   "My Family" continues this tradition, but this is not a brand new song for him.

"I've been performing this song live for many years but had never recorded it.   I just wasn't sure what musical style would best fit.   I finally decided to base the song on what we called "Beach Music" back in the Carolinas.   This was a genre of R&B music my parents' generation swing-danced to.   Hopefully it's a nice homage to those swingy R&B tunes from the 50s and 60s."

"My Family" is available for purchase at the usual online sites.

Bartleby Finkleton is Gonna Wash His Hands

Several years ago, I wrote a song about a kid named "Bartleby Finkleton" who refused to bathe. Well, in these crazy times we've all got to do our part, so even Bartleby is turning over a new leaf.

It turns out that the chorus for this song clocks in at 20 seconds, exactly the amount of recommended time to take when washing your hands. So I humbly offer this new song and video "Bartleby Finkleton is Gonna Wash His Hands" in hopes that it might help make handwashing a little more fun.
