Once I Lived Upon The Sea
Amongst the waves endlessly
Happy just to be afloat
And follow the moon where she might go
Adrift in possibility
So when I feel the world rock beneath my feet
And the horizon slips away
I just let it go
It does not bother me
‘Cause once I lived upon the sea
Once I lived upon the wind
Between a whisper and a whim
I’d blow into town from time to time
Picking up anything I’d find
And scatter it all around again
Now when the treetops start to sway
And I can hear a whistle at my window calling me
I just smile and say
“Not today my friend”
But once I lived upon the wind
Once I lived upon a dream
Just before what might have been
An in the morning when you rise
And wipe the sleep from your eyes
Do you remember me?
When I think about how lucky I have been
I have to pinch myself just to believe
With all this evidence
It is not so hard to see
That once I lived upon a dream
