Take the Tinkertown Trolley

Timothy Thistletop
waits at the trolley stop
He’s headed down to Tinkertown
To the barber shop
He says, “I need to have
A tad taken off the top
I wanna look great
For my date at eight o’clock

There’s only one way downtown
And there’s no two ways about it
So if you’re heading my way

At the next stop
On hops Tina Thimblethumb
Her work at the tailor shop
Is all done
She’s been busy
Making a dress
She’s headed home to try it on
And see how it fits

There’s only one way downtown
And there’s no two ways about it
So if you’re heading my way

Let’s take the Tinkertown town trolley downtown
The ticket’s only two bits
Down to the turnaround
And back again with me

The trolley takes a turn
Ringing it’s bell
It starts to trundle up
Teaberry Hill
And waiting by the track
Is Toby Thumbtack
He wants to know exactly what’s what
And that’s a fact

And when the trolley slows
On trips Trina Twinkletoes
Where she’s off to
Heaven only knows
Toby’d like to pin down
Exactly where they stand
But Trina keeps dancing
‘round the issue man

There’s only one way downtown
And there’s no two ways about it
So if you’re heading my way

Let’s take the Tinkertown trolley downtown
The ticket’s only two bits
Down to the turnaround
And back again with me

The trolley changes tracks
At Tenth and Tumbledown
On steps Tippy Tophat
The richest man in Tinkertown
And just arund the bend
There’s Teddy Tincan
He can’t afford a ticket
So he’s walking again

Teddy  thinks, “The trolley
Sure would be a better way to go
But I don’t have 2 cents
To rub together you know”
Tippy Tophat says, “Teddy don’t look so glum
The ride’s on me today brother
Hop on!”

There’s only one way downtown
And there’s no two ways about it
So if you’re heading my way

Let’s take the Tinkertown trolley downtown
The ticket’s only two bits
Down to the turnaround
And back again with me

By the town clock
On steps Trudy Tickytock
Her little wristwatch
Is telling her it’s 2 o’clock
She says, “I’m tardy
For tea time today
I’m really in a hurry
Can you get me there yesterday?”

Then Tommy Tumbleweed
Rolls into the back seat
Says, “I’ve got nowhere to be
Take me any place you please”
The trolley man
Gives them a wink
“I’ll get you there sure thing
All aboard!” Ring Ring

There’s only one way downtown
And there’s no two ways about it
So if you’re heading my way

Let’s take the Tinkertown trolley downtown
The ticket’s only two bits
Down to the turnaround
And back again with me

At the next block
The trolley rolls to a stop
Near the humble home
Of Tina Thimblethumb
She grabs her dress
And heads for the street
She says, “The day is tailor-made
For a girl like me!”

She is smiling
As she heads for the door
But when she steps outside
She thinks of one thing more

She leans back
Into the trolley to say
“Hey Timothy
See you at eight”

There’s only one way downtown
And there’s no two ways about it
So if you’re heading my way

Let’s take the Tinkertown trolley downtown
The ticket’s only two bits
Down to the turnaround
And back again with me
